Visiting S\u00f3ller on its old wooden train is an essential part of any trip to Mallorca. Enjoying this excursion is like travelling back 100 years into Mallorca\u2019s past. This journey from Palma to S\u00f3ller will immerse you in the more rural side of Mallorca. The train runs through valleys full of carob, olive and orange trees. You will see mortar-less dry stone constructions called marjades<\/a>, which are characteristic of the Tramuntana Mountains. The route is 26.7 km to S\u00f3ller from Palma. The ochre-coloured town of S\u00f3ller lies
\nin a valley surrounded by the greyish hills of the Serra de Tramuntana. The Arabs saw the potential of the valley, known as the Vall d’Or (Golden Valley), and accounts of the orange and lemon groves, watered by springs in the hills, date back to the 13th century. The citrus export market laid the foundations for the town’s great wealth.<\/p>

A visit to S\u00f3ller is almost a must if you visit the island. To get to the village you will have to pass through many areas of the Serra de Tramuntana and different viewpoints along the way.
