Palma de Mallorca is home to a multitude of artistic expressions in the field of urban art. It\u2019s true that urban art once only referred to endeavours by artists creating their work without permission or commission. However, this is changing in a way that offers opportunities to these creators and also avoids creations that fall beyond the boundaries of legality.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

You have no doubt read about, heard of or seen some of the works by the most famous urban artists in the world, such as D*Face, Shepard Fairey, Vhils, SpaceInvader and Banksy. You will also find such artists in Mallorca and we recommend remembering their names. We suggest you take a stroll around the city and get to know the renowned artists who have a place on its streets.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

From the moment you arrive at the port or airport, we recommend you experience the history of the island through its streets and people. Through all the paintings and artwork  that, little by little, reveal Mallorcan culture. A combination of modernity and tradition.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

There are a number of different routes for you to explore and discover the urban art to be found in Palma de Mallorca. The suburb of Son Gotleu is home to a wall with graffiti by urban artists from the 1990s, there is a mural on the fa\u00e7ade of the CEIP Es Pont by Marc Peris \u2018SOMA\u2019 and there are works by Joan Aguil\u00f3 all over the island.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Carolina Ad\u00e1n Caro<\/b><\/a>: <\/b>If you walk around the streets of the old town, you will definitely come across the expression \u201cArt is Life\u201d on the walls. According to the artist, what she intended to capture is a second of the time of whoever stops to look, a playful expression of colour that serves as a language through emotion and faces. There is also much more to discover in the streets, such as \u201cRecuerdos de infancia\u201d on the walls of the Kiosko Alaska or \u201cPool\u201d at s\u2019Aigo Dol\u00e7a swimming pool. SOMA<\/b><\/a>:<\/b> he is one of the artists with the most artworks on the streets of Palma. If you are walking around the streets of the old town, decide to lose yourself in any of its districts and take a good look, you will definitely find some of his work. For example, he is famous for his painting of a fox with two people fishing for books above him in Son Espanyolet and the mermaid in El Molinar. However, he is also known for his large-scale works, such as the pink whale he painted on the fa\u00e7ade of the CEIP Es Pont, in Son Gotleu. It should be pointed out that some of the works by this artist have disappeared from the city streets due to building work or renovations.
