On the occasion of World Environment Day<\/strong>, joining the initiative of UN Environment, under the slogan #BeatAirPollution, Grupo Pi\u00f1ero announced that, in 2018, its hotel division, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, reduced the carbon footprint generated by each stay in its establishments by 4{e1693626c2ee3526e60b208faf83d954eda8c9a37cbd38b184b6efe8d0cd1055} compared to 2017.\u00a0
\nThrough this reduction in its emissions, Grupo Pi\u00f1ero continues to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal of ‘Climate Action”, one of the SDGs included since 2017 in its business plan. By pursuing this goal, it contributes to reduce air pollution in the destinations in which it operates.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It has also managed to reduce its ecological footprint thanks to a sustainable mobility plan implemented in 2017. As a result, Grupo Pi\u00f1ero now has 100{e1693626c2ee3526e60b208faf83d954eda8c9a37cbd38b184b6efe8d0cd1055} electric-powered vehicles on its golf courses and 90{e1693626c2ee3526e60b208faf83d954eda8c9a37cbd38b184b6efe8d0cd1055} of the passenger vehicles used by hotel guests in the hotels and complexes are also electric.<\/p>\n

In the words of Antonia del Toro, Grupo Pi\u00f1ero’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility<\/strong>, \u201cfor us it is essential to continue progressing in terms of environmental sustainability with a view to preserving and protecting the environment. In 2019 we kept working to improve our C02 emissions into the atmosphere. We are installing highly energy-efficient and renewable-energy equipment in our hotels. We are continuing to pursue our sustainable mobility plan, and with the implementation of the waste management system in all the business units of the group.
